Troubleshooting Your Floor Scrubber

Walk-behind and ride-on floor scrubbers boost productivity, enable quicker dry times, use less water than conventional methods and increase cleaning efficiency. But what do you do if yours isn’t performing at its best?

Check out this troubleshooting guide to better understand what may be causing issues with your floor scrubber in Los Angeles:

My floor scrubber isn’t picking up water well.

If your floor scrubber is trailing water or leaving water on turns, check these components:

Vacuum system: Is the vacuum motor on? Is the recovery tank drain hose cap tight? Are the gasket and recovery tank lid sealing properly with the tank opening?

Squeegee blade: Do your blades need to be flipped or replaced? Is your vacuum hose connected to the squeegee? If your blade deflection is uneven, adjust the squeegee angle on the floor.

Solution: Is too much solution being dispensed? Is the speed too slow for your solution level? Try reducing your solution flow setting.

Recovery tank: Is your tank full? Empty it and check that the float is freely moving.

I’m getting poor scrubbing results.

Pad or brush: Is your pad or brush worn? Replacing it to match the requirements of your application can do the trick.

Solution and chemical: Is the solution filter clean? Try increasing the amount of solution flow or the active chemical concentration.

Water supply: If you’re experiencing uneven solution flow on a cylindrical model, check your water supply to the deck line and make sure the deck holes are clean.

My equipment has poor run time.

Batteries: Are your batteries fully charged? Let them charge overnight after each use. Is the charger correctly connected to the batteries? Does the outlet have power? What’s the condition of your batteries?

Pad pressure: Are you using too much pad pressure? This can drastically reduce run time.

My rider floor scrubber won’t move.

Safety switch: Reset the safety switch (E-Stop).

Seat switch: Are you correctly positioned in the operator’s compartment? Try turning the key switch off and restarting your unit to reset.

Battery: If your battery is dead, don’t try pushing the scrubber to another area. Check your operators manual — you may have an electromagnetic brake that first must be disabled.
