Our History

February 4th, 1972
Haaker Equipment Company (HEC) has its humble beginnings in Santa Fe Springs with product lines that include Vactor and LoDal.

June 1972
John Haaker becomes the sole owner of the newly renamed, “Haaker Equipment Company” Bill Haaker joins the company as chief ‘gofer’, Vactor and Ecolotec Sweeper demonstration operator, mechanic and sales trainee.

Persistence and perseverance are the hammer and chisel of Haaker’s early success. The business moves to South El Monte.

Construction of a new office and shop in newly acquired land in Pomona. The foundation of superior customer service for which we now have a strong reputation, has its beginning.

Haaker is appointed a dealer for the Elgin Sweeper Company

Jim Haaker introduces the company’s first computer system which results in increased inventory control and customer service. Throughout the 80’s Continued growth and expansion

Ed Haaker succeeds his brother Jim and becomes the Chief Financial Officer.

The Haaker Fire Equipment Division is created to accommodate the Company’s expansion and diversification into fire apparatus sales and service. Randy Blackman heads up the new division. Throughout the 90’s , Additional opportunities and focus on service and parts business helps establish Haaker Equipment Company as the premiere one stop source for municipal, fire, and contractor customers in Southern California.

Randy Blackman becomes president of Haaker Equipment Company allowing Bill Haaker to focus on growing new product sales. Bill leads Haaker Equipment Company to 8 straight awards as top volume Dealer of Elgin and Vactor products.

Haaker Equipment Company moves to a new 49,000 Square Foot facility in La Verne California.

Growth of our market in Las Vegas leads to the establishment of a second HEC facility . We represent all major product lines including Vactor, Elgin, and Nilfisk-Advance. The capacity of our new building enables Haaker Equipment Company to expand into Industrial Sweeping and Scrubbing products through a new Division – Total Clean Matt Woods rejoins HEC to manage the new division which primarily represents Nilfisk Advance products. In the first few years of our relationship with Advance, Total Clean quickly becomes a Premier level distributor and grows market share in relation to competitive manufacturers.

December 2010
The Company faces the tragic and sudden loss of Bill Haaker. Bill was the heart and soul of HEC. As a family and as a company family we are still healing and missing Bill’s daily presence in our business and our lives. As a group we carry on determined to prosper and move forward to a new generation of owners and managers as Bill envisioned.
